Christian Vieri believes Inter Milan can still challenge for the Serie A title, even after their 3-1 loss to Napoli.

Speaking to DAZN via FCInterNews, the former Italy international praised Inter’s style of football.

Inter Milan embarked on a new era under Cristian Chivu after last season’s disappointment under Simone Inzaghi.

Indeed, the 45-year-old replaced Inzaghi in the dugout over the summer.

Despite concerns over Chivu’s lack of experience in senior management, Inter have performed well in the early stages of the season.

Furthermore, they had won seven consecutive games in all competitions before Saturday’s loss at the Maradona Stadium.

Referee Maurizio Mariani propelled Antonio Conte’s side to a controversial win with a dubious penalty decision.

However, it’s fair to say that the Nerazzurri failed to impress in that match.

Despite an underwhelming performance in Naples, Christian Vieri still views Inter as strong Serie A title contenders.

First of all, Vieri hailed Inter’s style of play under the Romanian head coach.

“Inter plays the most beautiful football and is the team that creates the most chances of all,” he was adamant.

Then, he admitted the Nerazzurri could still dethrone Napoli this season despite Saturday’s upset.

“Then, losing to Juventus and Napoli is understandable, less so against Udinese,” Vieri added. “But for me, Inter can win the Scudetto.”

Inter fell three points behind Napoli as a result of Saturday’s defeat.

However, there’s more than enough time for Chivu’s charges to bridge the gap and win their 21st top-flight title.

Meanwhile, Inter’s road to redemption begins on Wednesday when they take on out-of-sorts Fiorentina at home.

Winless after the opening eight rounds, Stefano Pioli’s men languish in the relegation zone.
