Napoli continue to hold talks with goalkeeper Alex Meret over his contract extension, but the length of the new deal seems to be the only aspect the two parties currently agree upon.

The Italy international’s current deal expires in June 2025, which has prompted clubs like Inter and Arsenal to closely monitor his situation, as they could approach the 27-year-old starting next January to sign him as a free agent for the following summer.

Meret and Napoli still don’t agree on new contract’s wages

The former SPAL player has seemed open to discussing the terms of renewal with the Partenopei so far, but they still couldn’t get to a total agreement.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, the two parties are on the same page regarding the length of the new contract, which should run until June 2028.

However, there’s still a significant gap between Meret’s wage demands and Napoli’s offer, although they are expected to keep working on striking a deal in the next weeks.

The goalkeeper has played 12 Serie A games this season under Antonio Conte, missing three fixtures through injury.
