Napoli have been searching for a proper Giovanni Di Lorenzo deputy for a few years and will do so again this summer, and Dodo is emerging as an option after the talks with Union SG regarding Anan Khalaili stalled, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs.
The Israeli youngster is director Giovanni Manna’s top choice, but the counterparty is asking for €25M, more than the Partenopei would like to pay for him. The negotiation will continue for a few more days.
Dodo is also being followed by Roma, in addition to Napoli. He could leave Fiorentina for relatively cheap, €12/15M. He has a short-term contract and would like to play in the Champions League. Instead, the Azzurri are more lukewarm on other names, such as Galatasaray’s Wilfried Singo and Dinamo Zagreb’s Moris Valinic.
The Serie A runner-ups have yet to announce Massimiliano Allegri, but it’s only a matter of time. His formal exit from Milan has been more laborious than expected due to issues with his severance package. Once that’s done, he’ll sign a two-year deal, earning a €4.5M annually, with a special bonus tied to winning the Scudetto.
They have struggled to address this position for a few years at this point, but other players’ versatility worked in their favor when Di Lorenzo missed time last season. The Fiorentina man would be overqualified as a mere deputy in a four-man line, but that’s an issue more for him than for them. Inter, with or without Marco Palestra, and a few other sides will likely join in if that’s really his price tag, as he’s a very proven commodity.
