Napoli clause ‘to cost’ €70m if Victor Osimhen returns to Serie A

Any Juventus hopes of bringing Victor Osimhen back to Serie A have run into a deterrent clause inserted by Napoli in his €75m move to Galatasaray.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Galatasaray would owe Napoli an additional €70m if the striker were sold to an Italian club. The protection is in place for 24 months, meaning a return would be complicated before 1 September 2027.

There is a theoretical workaround, as a club such as Juventus could seek a separate agreement directly with Napoli to avoid triggering the penalty for Galatasaray. Even then, Osimhen’s pay remains prohibitive, with a fixed €15m salary and bonuses potentially taking his net annual earnings to €21m. Without the Growth Decree tax benefits, no club in Italy can currently afford that outlay.

Despite the obstacles, Osimhen has spoken warmly about Juventus and about Luciano Spalletti, the coach who unlocked his best during Napoli’s Scudetto win. He has called the idea of playing in Turin a privilege, praised Spalletti’s dedication, and said he feels indebted to him. He even chose not to celebrate a goal against Juventus as a mark of respect.

He recently fuelled intrigue by posting a photo with Alessandro Del Piero, saying he felt fortunate to meet one of the best ever. The clause underlines the edge in the Napoli-Juventus rivalry, and any move appears frozen for now. Supporters will likely have to wait until 2027 to see if this story advances.
