Napoli are considering a loan move for Newcastle United striker Nick Woltemade, according to transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano.

Woltemade bagged just 12 goals and five assists in 54 appearances across all competitions last season.

He faces increased competition from William Osula and Yoane Wissa this term. They are ahead of him in the pecking order, having started Newcastle’s Premier League draw against Liverpool last weekend.

Napoli have now asked about Woltemade’s availability. The Italian club are looking to strengthen their attack following Romelu Lukaku’s move to Fenerbahce.

They are also interested in Chelsea’s Marc Guiu and have a better chance of signing him than Woltemade.

Newcastle have shown interest in Lille forward Mathias Fernandez-Pardo. They have already made a formal offer for the Belgian forward.

Allowing the German to leave on loan would give him the chance to play regularly while creating room for the Magpies to sign another attacker.

The former Stuttgart star needs more game time to maximise his potential and keep his place in Germany’s squad, particularly following Jurgen Klopp’s appointment as manager.

A move to Serie A could benefit Woltemade, given that games are often played at a slower tempo than in the Premier League.
