Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario is attracting interest from Serie A, with Juventus and Napoli interested in his services.
According to Rai (via TuttoMercatoWeb), Napoli are ready to offer Vanja Milinkovic-Savic to sign the Spurs star.
The 6ft 8in Serbian would provide competition for Antonin Kinsky.
Tottenham are happy to let Vicario leave. However, despite garnering some interest from Italy, they have not received concrete offers.
Spurs may be open to acquiring Milinkovic-Savic despite his struggles since moving to Naples.
Milinkovic-Savic still kept 11 clean sheets in 27 Serie A appearances last term. He saved three out of eight penalties he faced last season and four out of seven the season before.
The 29-year-old is a solid, imposing goalkeeper whose aerial dominance could shine in the Premier League.
Swap deals are very complicated transfers to complete.
Two clubs have to agree on valuations, wages, contract structures and convince both players to accept the move, making negotiations far more difficult than a straightforward cash transfer.
Milinkovic-Savic is an experienced goalkeeper with undeniable physical presence, but he is hardly a necessity for De Zerbi’s squad.
Spurs already moved to strengthen their goalkeeping department by signing Martin Dubravka, who was brought in to provide experienced competition and guidance for Kinsky.
Adding another senior goalkeeper would only create an unnecessary logjam in a position that is already well covered.
If Vicario leaves, Tottenham would be better served reinvesting any transfer fee elsewhere rather than complicating matters with a difficult swap deal they do not need.
Signing a lethal centre-forward and a productive left-winger should be the club’s priority.
