Napoli give worrying injury updates on Alisson and Meret | OneFootball

Max Allegri gave important injury updates for Napoli after their defeat to Arsenal. ‘We’ll be without Alisson Santos for a while, I’m not sure about Alex Meret.’

The Partenopei were already decimated going into this evening’s Champions League opener at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

Napoli injury crisis intensifying

They were missing Scott McTominay, Andre Frank Zambo Anguissa, Alessandro Buongiorno, Luca Marianucci and Giovane, with Noa Lang left out over disciplinary matters, and David Neres only fit for the bench.

Meret started to struggle with an adductor issue in his left thigh during the first half and was replaced for the restart by Vanja Milinkovic-Savic.

Alisson Santos then limped off during the second half, so Allegri gave some updates.

“I think we’ll be without Alisson for a while,” the coach told Amazon Prime Video Italia.

“I’m not sure about Meret, we’ll have to see tomorrow what the tests say.”

Milinkovic-Savic had been the first choice goalkeeper last season under Antonio Conte, but had been superseded by Meret for this term, so it was his first appearance under Allegri.

Kevin De Bruyne and Billy Gilmour were making their first starts of the campaign and ended up playing the full 94 minutes, so it remains to be seen what condition they’ll be in this weekend in Serie A against Bologna.
