Napoli have two Ajax players in their crosshairs, Devyne Rensch and Kenneth Taylor, ahead of the January window. Director Giovanni Manna stated that they were unlikely to splurge but would be ready to seize some opportunities.
According to Tuttomercatoweb, the Partenopei wouldn’t mind adding a better deputy for Giovanni Di Lorenzo. The 21-year-old defender would be able to play in multiple roles and not just as a right-back. He’s under contract only until June 2025 but is negotiating an extension. He has collected 17 appearances, scoring and assisting once, under Francesco Farioli.
Napoli will continue to pursue Rensch and Taylor in the summer should they fail to come to terms with Ajax in the next window. The latter is seen as a potential long-term heir to Stanislav Lobotka, who’s 29 and routinely targeted by top teams given his rare characteristics.
The Dutch international has posted 6 goals and 4 assists in 21 matches so far this season. He properly broke out two years ago. He has 134 matches with his team and 4 with the Netherlands under his belt.
Nobody would blame the Partenopei if they stood pat in January, as they don’t have glaring holes. Di Lorenzo is an ironman, and Billy Gilmour has filled in nicely for Stanislav Lobotka. Technically speaking, they are one or two men short in the midfield since they have just Michael Folorunsho, who has barely played, behind Frank Anguissa and Scott McTominay. If they wished to be completely at ease in the second half of the season, that’s where they could intervene.
