Napoli Inquire About Liverpool Outcast and Lille Star

Napoli are going big-game hunting to reinforce their attack and will try to lure Jonathan David, Darwin Nunez, or another high-caliber striker, before settling for a young Serie A option, Alfredo Pedullà informs.

The Partenopei have approached the entourage of the Canadian star recently. He and his camp have hefty demands, but the Scudetto contenders are willing to get close to them and insert a release clause in his contract.

Napoli joined the scrum for David and started weighing Darwin Nunez. He’s likely to leave Liverpool at the end of the season. He hasn’t lived up to the massive expectations following a €85M transfer from Benfica two years ago. Still, he has put up 40 goals and 26 assists in 140 matches.

The 25-year-old lost the starting job in 2025. He has gotten the nod just thrice since January, routinely coming off the bench and hitting the net thrice. The Reds value him at €50/55M.

If the Azzurri can’t land an elite target, they’ll settle for one of the up-and-comers they have often been linked to, Udinese’s Lorenzo Lucca and Parma’s Ange-Yoan Bonny.

Our Take on Napoli, David, and Nunez

We’ll see soon whether their acceleration on the transfer market is a real shift in their strategy or a gambit to persuade Antonio Conte to stay. They definitely need another quality center-forward, as Romelu Lukaku has been better than last year at Roma, where he had trouble handling the busier schedule. He has also had a peculiar campaign, producing more against big teams than versus the minnows. He’d be easy to manage next year if that continued to be the case.
