Last month, TalkSPORT revealed that Kobbie Mainoo was open to leaving Manchester United before the transfer window shut—if the right offer came along. That report quickly drew attention from PSG, with one analyst noting the French side should monitor the situation closely.
In a previous episode of the “Ensemble PSG Podcast,” PSG expert Robin Bairner mentioned that while Mainoo didn’t secure a move over the summer, he’s a player the Ligue 1 side should keep on their radar for future opportunities.
“I think maybe one to look at might be Kobbie Mainoo at Manchester United,” Bairner said. “I think he’d be an interesting one to look at, just off the top of my head, because he’s clearly an immensely talented player, but he doesn’t really fit into Ruben Amorim’s system.
“Amorim wants players who are all about intensity, whereas there’s a feeling that Mainoo is lacking a little bit of mobility. I think he could potentially fit into a team like PSG where you’ve got that high tariff on technical ability and being able to play in possession.”

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Napoli have emerged as the frontrunners to sign Mainoo in January. If Ruben Amorim remains in charge at Old Trafford, Mainoo could look to leave in search of more playing time as he aims to secure a place in Thomas Tuchel’s 2026 World Cup squad for England.
Moreover, the Daily Mail recently reported that Napoli were at the front of the queue as they looked to pair him with Scott McTominay in Serie A. Meanwhile, Roma, Marseille, Tottenham, Aston Villa , and Everton also made enquiries.
Whether or not Mainoo becomes a realistic target for PSG remains to be seen. However, prominent teams across Europe are keen on the youngster as the Daily Mail’s Mike Keegan reports that Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid are monitoring the situation of Mainoo.
