Former Napoli star Lorenzo Insigne has made it clear that signing for Lazio remains his priority, despite the complicated situation at the club.
The Euro 2020 winner spent three years at Toronto FC, before ending his collaboration with the Major League Soccer franchise and making his way back to his home nation. However, the 34-year-old remains without a contract, and this is mainly due to his desire to reunite with his former mentor, Maurizio Sarri, with whom he shared three largely successful years at Napoli

However, Lazio haven’t been able to provide the veteran tactician with any reinforcement since his return to Formello earlier in the summer. This is due to a transfer ban imposed by COVISOC, stemming from the club’s unbalanced accounts which failed to meet the required standards.
But according to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedullà, Insigne has yet to give up on his plan to join Sarri at Lazio. As the transfer market insider explains, the winger has received several offers from Italy and abroad, but he has kept them all on ice, as he’s still holding out for the opportunity to sign for the Biancocelesti.
In the meantime, Lazio president Claudio Lotito and the club’s sporting director Angelo Fabiani are confident that the ban will be lifted as soon as possible, but it remains to be seen whether this will occur in October, which would allow them to sign Insigne as a free agent, or if we’ll have to wait until January.
