Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Napoli are showing serious in Jesper Karlsson. The 24-year-old AZ Alkmaar winger is one of Napoli’s top transfer targets this summer, but the Serie A champions face competition from other clubs including Lazio. Talks between Napoli and AZ are currently ongoing as the Italians aim to add the Swedish winger to their attack.
AZ Alkmaar signed Karlsson from Swedish side Elfsborg in the summer of 2020. The attacker cost AZ just €2.6m. Since signing, Karlsson has scored 46 goals and provided 33 assists in 123 appearances. An incredible turnout from the talented 24-year-old. Karlsson has also represented Sweden’s national team 11 times, scoring three goals.
Last season Karlsson scored 13 goals and provided eight assists in 33 games. He played a crucial part in AZ’s successful season as they finished fourth in the Eredivisie and progressed to the semi-finals of the Europa Conference League. Jesper Karlsson could be a brilliant addition to this current Napoli squad. With Kvaratskhelia, Osimhen and Karlsson leading the line, they’d definitely have the firepower to retain their league title.
