Napoli have missed out on circa €10m following their Champions League exit, and Repubblica notes that Antonio Conte can only turn the season around by finishing in the top four in Serie A.

Napoli faced Champions League exit following a 3-2 home loss to Chelsea on Wednesday, which pushed the Partenopei down to 30th in the standings, outside a play-off placement.

As reported by Repubblica, Napoli have missed out on circa €10m, which would have been earned in case of qualification for the next phase of Europe’s elite competition.

The newspaper adds that December’s win in the Supercoppa Italiana only partially compensated for Napoli’s financial loss due to their European exit.

Last summer, Antonio Conte agreed to remain in charge after winning the Scudetto in 2024-25 and, according to the report, the minimum target set by the club back then was to finish in the top four.

Currently, Napoli are level on 43 points in the Serie A standings, just one above fifth-placed Juventus and have qualified for the Coppa Italia quarter-finals.

Repubblica notes that Conte must finish in the top four in Serie A to rescue the season after a Champions League elimination that hasn’t only affected the club’s finances, but also the image of the Partenopei, who had to put aside their ambitious plans for European growth.
