Miguel Gutierrez has reflected on his early days at Napoli, highlighting both the difficulties of adapting abroad and the support he has received since joining.

The Spanish defender, who was signed to strengthen Antonio Conte’s side in the summer, admitted that leaving Spain for the first time in his career was a challenge but the environment in Naples has already given him confidence.

“The dressing room is spectacular, the people here welcomed me straight away. It’s like a family and this is very important for a player arriving from abroad,” he told Radio CRC, via TMW.

Napoli summer signing Gutierrez: “Working with Conte a privilege”

Gutierrez was also quick to praise his new coach.

“Working with Conte and his staff is a privilege for me: they have won so much. It’s a big challenge and this coach can help me improve a lot technically and tactically.”

The former Real Madrid youth product described himself as a versatile and dynamic player, adding: “I like to play inside the pitch but also wide. I adapt to what the coach asks of me.”

On the city, Gutierrez underlined the unique passion he has encountered: “I’ve never seen a place where people live football in this way. This aspect motivates me a lot.”
