Napoli haven’t commenced the season in the best of ways, in part due to a few significant absences, but they aren’t at the point where they are considering axing Massimiliano Allegri just three months into his three-year contract, Fabrizio Romano reports (via SOSFanta).

The situation behind the scenes is understandably tense, chiefly because of the disappointing results. The Partenopei reside in 9th position, trailing the league leaders by six points already. They have tallied two wins, one draw, and two losses thus far.

Allegri has to address some tricky situations and restore some balance inside the Napoli locker room. However, the team isn’t in such a dire state that he’s contemplating throwing in the towel and stepping down, nor does the brass want to fire him.

The Azzurri need to improve on the offensive end. While the scoring is up across the league, they have bagged seven goals, matching their xG, Corriere dello Sport informs. They are taking roughly 14 shots per game, but mostly from outside the box.

They’d have to go into an unsolvable spiral for him to really mull over resigning, which he’s basically never done in his career. Aurelio De Laurentiis has been pursuing him for years in order to have a gaffer that won’t give him too many headaches and that makes do with what he has at his disposal.

There’s not much hope his style will suddenly become fizzier and more inspiring, but they’ll naturally improve once Scott McTominay, Alisson Santos, and Frank Anguissa get healthy. Still, the competition to make the top four is quite daunting, and they can ill-afford to fall behind.
