A Napoli player has come out and pointed at what he believes is a big reason as to why they lost against Chelsea last night.

The Italian side fought hard and even took a 2-1 lead into the break after going 1-0 down to an Enzo Fernandez penalty early doors, coming from behind to do so.

EXCLUSIVE! Jeremy Jacquet to Chelsea could still be on for THIS window!

Chelsea had a poor first half really and could not match the intensity of Napoli, who were beating them to every second ball, winning all their duals, and just wanted it much more. But after a half time team talk and a switch up of tactics, Chelsea turned it around and came from behind the win the game themselves.

But it needed some real individual quality and class finishing from Joao Pedro though, but his first goal was of a world class calibre without a doubt. His second goal wasn’t too shabby either and was a fine finish to put Chelsea 3-2 up and going on to win the game.

Cole Palmer came on at half time to help Chelsea gain a bit more of an attacking edge as well, and he provided two assists in the game.

Napoli were hit with injuries and had a makeshift starting Xl. They couldn’t even name a full subs bench, they were that depleted. And striker Rasmus Hojlund says this played a part in their downfall last night.

The striker told TNT Sports that his side ran out of energy around the 60 minute mark, and Chelsea’s superior substitutes were the difference.

He said: “As you say it’s frustrating, but we played against a great opponent today. Of course, we wanted more out of this game so we could go through.

“Good energy in the team, but I don’t want to make any excuses but we’re very short in the team right now, and you probably saw that in the second half. They brought on Garnacho and Cole Palmer and these sort of players, incredible players. We struggled a little with the energy after 60 minutes.”
