Napoli Ponder Pursuing Dynamic Lille Winger Again

Napoli aren’t wasting any time on the transfer market and they have rekindled their dated interest in Edon Zhegrova. They have better odds of being successful this time around since his contract is up in 2026 and he’s unlikely to renew it, Corriere dello Sport informs.

The Azzurri have made strides in their pursuit. They could reunite him with Jonathan David. They continue to lead the race despite Juventus and Inter’s interference. The winger has been at Lille since January 2022 and has registered 26 goals and 18 assists in 107 games. However, he hasn’t played since December due to a serious thigh injury.

According to Rai’s Ciro Venerato (via Tuttomercatoweb), Napoli like Zhegrova but the deal isn’t in its homestretch. Director Giovanni Manna is getting busy. Frank Anguissa has two offers from Saudi Arabia. If he leaves, the Partenopei would accelerate for Georgyi Sudakov. He has accepted the move, but Shakhtar Donetsk ask for €40M. PSG’s Kang-in Lee is a possible alternative.

Even though the impasse with Alex Meret continues, as he hasn’t re-upped his contract yet even though it’s about to expire, his entourage believes he’ll stay. He has repelled Milan and two foreign teams.

Our Take on Napoli and Zhegrova

They’ll need another winger, preferably a left-footed one, as they won’t be able to rely just on good ol’ Matteo Politano next season. He’d be a sound reinforcement despite the injury-related concerns, but Lille were perfectly happy letting David go on a free. They are being linked to several technical players, but they’d need muscles if Anguissa departs. They could use Scott McTominay more defensively, but it’d be a shame to move him away from the box since he’s been a terror.
