There are growing indications that Napoli are in advanced talks to sign Jonathan David on a free transfer, with strong interest from the likes of Inter and Juventus likely prompting the Partenopei to accelerate their pursuit.

Reports on Sunday morning claimed that Napoli’s sporting director, Giovanni Manna, had already met with the striker’s agent to discuss the terms of a potential deal for the Lille star.

In addition to confirming the contact between the two parties, Fabrizio Romano reported that negotiations are progressing faster than expected. According to the transfer expert, Napoli have officially submitted a significant contract proposal to the player’s entourage.

While Napoli are pushing to receive a quick response from David, the number of clubs interested is likely to prolong the process, as the Canadian international is expected to consider multiple offers.

Romano added that further talks with Napoli are planned, as some ‘key details’ still need to be ironed out.

Both Inter and Juventus are also said to be very keen on the forward, with the Nerazzurri reportedly among the most active clubs in recent weeks.

David’s arrival would add considerable firepower to Napoli’s front line, with the possibility of pairing the 25-year-old with Romelu Lukaku. The summer will also see Victor Osimhen return from his loan spell at Galatasaray before likely departing on a permanent deal.
