Napoli Ramp Up Their Efforts to Onboard Udinese Starlet

Napoli will have to focus on the midfield in January after Frank Anguissa and Kevin De Bruyne suffered major thigh injuries, and, in addition to Kobbie Mainoo, they are laying the groundwork to sign Arthur Atta, Tuttomercatoweb informs.

Udinese don’t want to lose their starlet mid-season, and his price tag is very high, around €30M. He has shone in most matches so far, although he has been limited to one goal and one assist. The Friulani will turn another massive ‘plusvalenza,’ having acquired him for €8M from Metz.

Napoli will try to lure Atta and, like for Roma regarding Joshua Zirkzee, they are waiting for Manchester United’s decision on Mainoo. They are ready to offer a loan with an option or obligation to buy, replicating the Rasmus Hojlund deal, if the Red Devils agreed to part ways with their home product.

In addition, the Azzurri have been offered Quinter Timber. His contract runs out next June, and he doesn’t appear inclined to renew it. Feyenoord could shop him to avoid losing him for nothing. He has registered 19 goals and 14 assists in 116 appearances with his current team.

Our Take on Napoli, Atta, Mainoo, and Timber

They should sign as many good midfielders as they can find, but their budget is a question mark. Despite their stance, Udinese could probably be swayed with the right offer. On the other hand, while the Bianconeri talent is brilliant and has an incredible ceiling, he’s not the type of midfielder they should seek. They need a couple of muscular and hardworking players, preferably with some experience and already familiar with Serie A, or they wouldn’t play under Antonio Conte. It’ll be a high-wire act.
