Como are looking for a replacement for Nico Paz following Real Madrid’s decision to exercise their buyback option, and have identified Napoli’s Antonio Vergara as a potential solution, but the Serie A side are placing an extraordinarily high bar on any sale, demanding a fee so significant that even €30 million may not be enough.
According to Sky Sport’s Gianluca Di Marzio, via AreaNapoli, Como sporting director Carlalberto Ludi has sounded out Napoli over Vergara as the club search for affordable Italian talent to fill the creative void left by Paz’s departure.
The talented midfielder was one of the Partenopei’s standout performers last season and attracted interest from Tottenham, Roma and Atalanta earlier this summer, with Como now the latest club to register their admiration.

Napoli’s position is firm.
The club has no intention of selling Vergara unless an offer arrives that simply cannot be refused.
As Di Marzio put it, the asking price is “fuori mercato”, above standard market value, and Napoli will not be pressured into selling one of their most promising young players cheaply.
Como are also exploring an alternative in Mattia Liberali, the former Milan youngster who has a €6 million release clause at Catanzaro, a significantly more accessible operation than any approach for Vergara. The Liberali option may ultimately prove the more realistic route for Fabregas as he rebuilds his squad for the Champions League.
