Napoli have a few Udinese players in their crosshairs and are furthering the talks even though it’ll be hard to add them all. In addition to Oumar Solet and Lorenzo Lucca, the Partenopei have set sights on Jurgen Ekkelenkamp as well, Calciomercato reports.
The defender wasted little time becoming a linchpin and turning heads following his January arrival as a free agent. Several sides are keen on him, including Inter, but the Bianconeri are resisting. They want no less than €30M to part ways with him in the summer.
Napoli director Giovanni Manna gathered intel about Ekkelenkamp during the recent conversations with Udinese. He was signed from Antwerp for just over €5M last year. He has registered 4 goals and 2 assists in his maiden Serie A campaign.
The Antonio Conte-led side isn’t relenting despite the difficulties. The negotiation concerning Solet and Lucca in particular will continue. Inter are in the mix for the center-forward as well since he’s different from their stars.
All three would be very good acquisitions and plug some holes, as the Partenopei need reinforcements all over their squad. On the other hand, a triple swoop is improbable, as the cheque would have to be very fat, and the Friulani have a shot at leveling up after years fighting for relegation if they don’t gut their squad. They should and will hold onto at least a couple of centerpieces. It’ll likely be easier to lure those who have been with them for a while, like Jaka Bijol and Lucca. Instead, the more recent additions are just scratching the surface, and their valuations are bound to rise if they stay.
