According to a report by Il Mattino via Calcio Napoli 24, Napoli management has given the task of resuming negotiations and landing the signature of Udinese’s Nehuen Perez to new sporting director Giovanni Manna. The Argentine came close to joining the Partenopei in January but the deal fell through at the last moment between the clubs.
Napoli CEO Aurelio De Laurentiis will be able to allocate a figure of around €200 million as a transfer budget this summer if the sale of Victor Osimhen goes through. Numerous players are already shortlisted but Nehuen Perez is a priority as the defence featured underwhelmingly throughout this season.
The 23-year-old defender joined Udinese from Granada in 2021 and has grown to be an influential member of their squad since then. He has starred 32 times in the Serie A this season and attracted several potential suitors due to his performances.
Napoli hope to close the deal before any other major club arrives in the race.
