Grêmio have suffered a double injury setback, with Nardoni and Gustavo Martins sidelined. Nardoni faces the longer lay-off.

According to Globo.com, Nardoni took a blow to his right knee during the loss to Atlético-MG. Scans showed a sprain of the joint’s posterior capsule, and he is expected to miss around three weeks, ruling him out of the Copa do Brasil quarter-final Gre-Nais on 27 August and three September.

Centre-back Gustavo Martins has an oedema in his left adductor. He will miss the weekend at a minimum, with a possibility of returning next Thursday.

In midfield, Croatian playmaker Krovinovic is in line to come in. Villasanti is set to return from precautionary rest, as is left-back Marlon.

At the back, the issue is compounded by Kannemann’s suspension. Wagner Leonardo is likely to partner Wallace in central defence.

Danilo Barbosa could also bolster the options, and can operate at centre-back. He trained with the group on Tuesday but still needs to be registered, with a chance of appearing in the CBF’s Boletim Informativo Diário by Friday.

The staff are assessing how to reintroduce Danilo, who has not played since May and may need tailored conditioning. Grêmio face Red Bull Bragantino on Sunday at 16:00 at Estádio Cícero Marques.
