Nasser al-Khelaïfi to miss Chelsea tie, stays in Doha

Nasser al-Khelaïfi will not attend Paris Saint-Germain’s Champions League round of 16 first leg against Chelsea, as he has opted to remain in Doha due to the current regional situation, according to L'Équipe.

The PSG president had planned to be there, as he has for all of the club’s Champions League fixtures, but has decided to stay in Doha.

Al-Khelaïfi has spoken with head coach Luis Enrique, sporting adviser Luis Campos, the backroom staff and the entire squad, delivering a message of support, encouragement and unity.

He also addressed supporters, whom he often hails as unrivalled, saying he cannot wait to feel the stadium atmosphere and urging them to come together in his absence and drive the players until the final minute of this special night.

The first leg against Chelsea is at the Parc des Princes, with kick-off at 21:00.
