The Addicks have a new rising star who will surely be in contention to feature at the Racecourse Ground.

Charlton Athletic manager Nathan Jones has a welcome headache ahead of the Addicks' trip to Wrexham this weekend after teenager Ibrahim Fullah impressed from the bench in midweek.

The 18-year-old came on as a second half substitute against West Bromwich Albion at The Valley on Tuesday night and took the opportunity with both hands, helping his side to a 1-0 win courtesy of Sonny Carey's long-range winner in stoppage time.

Fullah had already shown what he is capable of in a Charlton shirt prior to coming on against the Baggies, having scored against both Stevenage and Cambridge United in the early rounds of the EFL Cup back in August, before making his Championship debut as a late substitute at Loftus Road later that month.

The youngster had to wait nine league games before his next first-team appearance arrived on Tuesday night, but it seems unlikely that he will need to wait as long for another chance after he made such an impact against West Brom.

Charlton had Reece Burke, Amari'i Bell, Josh Edwards, Charlie Kelman and Matty Godden sidelined by injuries for the visit of West Brom, which meant that youngsters Fullah and Keenan Gough were brought into the matchday squad.

Jones spoke about the decision to introduce Fullah as a 74th-minute substitute after the game, as per the club's official X account.

"To be honest with you, I have had my goalkeeping coach, Stephen Henderson, in my ear all the time — 'put him on, put him on, put him on'," Jones said.

"To be honest with you, I have just got sick of listening to him, so I thought 'OK, it's on you', and to be fair, the kid was magnificent.

"Absolutely magnificent."

The 18-year-old hardly put a foot wrong during his time on the pitch, with the standout moment undoubtedly being his clever roulette and perfectly weighted through ball to Miles Leaburn shortly after coming on.

Fullah's first touch, weight of pass and link-up play were impressive, but his speed, endeavor, and willingness to press defenders are what really makes it seem as though he is going to be an ideal player for Nathan Jones' system.

When you consider that he has also already shown that he has an eye for goal, it is easy to understand why he was handed a long-term contract in April.

Now, Jones has a real selection headache ahead of the Addicks' trip to Wrexham on Saturday, as it will be difficult to ignore Fullah after his introduction helped swing the momentum of the game in Charlton's favour on Tuesday night.

Charlton already have the likes of Miles Leaburn, Tyreece Campbell and Karoy Anderson in their first-team squad, while Micah Mbick and Daniel Kanu are catching the eye on loan at Colchester United and Walsall respectively, so Fullah could be the next Sparrows Lane academy graduate to make a name for himself this season.

The youngster made it clear he is ready to take any further opportunities that come his way following his home Championship debut in midweek, as per the club's official X account.

"I would just like to thank God, my family, and obviously the gaffer for giving me the opportunity to play today," Fullah said.

"It is something I have had to be patient for, but I am just grateful I was able to take my opportunity to play today, and it was a great win.

"[The manager told me to] just get on the ball, express myself, have fun, and just get the place rocking, to be honest, and obviously I am happy I did that.

"It's just one of them. Any time I get my opportunity, I just have to take it, and like I said before, it is something I have to be patient for, and I have to trust the gaffer's timing."

Considering his performance against West Brom, and the fact Charlton have a number of injury concerns, it would be no surprise to see Fullah feature again at Wrexham on Saturday, and he could well prove to be a secret weapon in Wales.
