Charlton Athletic's trip to Tottenham in the EFL Cup ended in a bad result, two injuries, and a slightly concerning transfer update from manager Nathan Jones.

Speaking after the match, Nathan Jones was clearly seriously concerned about the injuries that his Charlton Athletic team had picked up during their EFL Cup defeat to Spurs.

As reported by journalist Rich Hawley on the social media platform X, Jones said: "Everything we were going to go for we're now not able to - because we have got to replace now.

"That is absolutely disastrous for us. We lost two and we don't think it is weeks."

Charlton have been reported to have agreed terms with Crystal Palace over the transfer of winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi from Crystal Palace, a deal worth in excess of £4 million, but it's unclear whether this transfer is now in jeopardy as a result of what happened at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Jones also revealed that these aren't the only centre-backs that he has lost to injury in the last few days, with Reece Burke having also been injured in the last few days. The extent and nature of Burke's injury is not currently known.
