Callum Robinson could offer a lot to Charlton Athletic as they look to achieve Championship survival.

It has been a rough ride for Charlton Athletic after an initial positive start to the season following promotion from League One, in which they even appeared capable of staking a shock play-off push at one stage.

The Addicks are currently sitting 19th, five points clear of the relegation places, while only three sides have scored less than Charlton's 25.

Summer signings Tanto Olaofe and Charlie Kelman have struggled to get going at The Valley, with the pair netting just once and four times respectively - two of which came for Kelman in the recent 2-2 draw with Blackburn Rovers.

The January transfer window has arrived in good time for Nathan Jones' side, who are in desperate need of firepower as they look to achieve Championship survival following their ascent last May.

In search of goals, out-of-favour Cardiff forward Callum Robinson would be a fantastic option should the Addicks look to strengthen, with the 30-year-old struggling for significant minutes in League One, after scoring 12 times in the Championship as the Bluebirds were relegated last term.

Charlton Athletic must consider Cardiff City forward Callum Robinson - he has 'undoubted quality'

Robinson has found himself out of favour in South Wales this term, mainly due to the form of Yousef Salech, who has scored 11 times thus far as Cardiff look to win promotion back to the Championship.

Robinson has made 21 appearances in the third tier, scoring four times, though he has racked up just 578 minutes. With this in mind, the experienced forward expressed his frustration with the situation last month.

Following his late winner against Stevenage in December, Bluebirds manager Brian Barry-Murphy admitted that: "Callum hasn't played (as much as he would have wanted) this season and I haven't given him enough games."

Though in praise of the forward, Barry-Murphy said that Robinson's "quality is undoubted."

Robinson is an extremely versatile asset in the final third, with the capability of playing across the front line. As Cardiff slumped to relegation last term, the Irish forward was the leading man - scoring 12 Championship goals.

He is someone with the experience that could prove vital as Charlton look to secure their safety.

Callum Robinson would be a reliable addition for Charlton

The Addicks have struggled massively for goals this term, with their forwards failing to make a real mark in the second tier.

A lack of goals has led to consistency problems, with Charlton failing to win twice in a row since 2-1 and 3-0 wins against Sheffield Wednesday and Ipswich in October.

Though their defensive record is positive. Their tally of 32 conceded is better than multiple sides in and around the play-off race - pointing in the direction of additional goals making a huge difference.

Robinson has proven himself in the Championship across spells with Preston North End, West Brom and Cardiff, and is now vastly experienced at 30.

Charlton are looking to secure survival and further settle down in the Championship, avoiding the same fate as 2020, when they were relegated after just one season in the second tier.

To do so, Nathan Jones needs to add a reliable source of goals to his side, and a player of Robinson's ilk is exactly the type of signing that Charlton should be targeting as they look to avoid an uncomfortable relegation battle.
