Executive chairman Nathan Shi is confident Cesar Peixoto has the character to handle the challenge at Wolves, calling him an excellent fit as the club looks to recover from one of the worst seasons in their history.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, Peixoto has signed a two-year deal to become head coach at Molineux. The 46-year-old replaces the axed Rob Edwards and is tasked with leading Wolves back to the Premier League at the first attempt.

Peixoto has never managed outside his homeland. Last season he led Gil Vicente to sixth in the Portuguese top flight.

Shi said talks convinced him Peixoto ticks key boxes, including a clear identity, strong leadership and real hunger to succeed.

He highlighted the new coach’s mentality, work ethic and readiness to embrace the challenge, while noting he is young, energetic and ambitious, yet thoughtful and accountable, and willing to challenge himself and those around him. Shi believes Peixoto will suit the culture and vision being built at Wolves.
