Cardiff City's chances of securing the permanent transfer of on-loan goalkeeper Nathan Trott have become clearer in a fresh emerging update
Cardiff City are now setting their sights on adapting to life back in the Championship after sealing promotion from League One with a 3-1 victory at Reading over the weekend, capping off an uplifting and hugely successful campaign under Brian-Barry Murphy.
The Bluebirds returned to League One for the first time since 2003 following relegation from the Championship last season, but have enjoyed a revitalising upturn in fortunes this term by achieving promotion with a young side compiled of promising, high-value academy products.
It has been a terrific campaign for Cardiff, who long resembled leading title contenders and are now set to finish the season in second place behind Lincoln City.
After wrapping up promotion with three games to spare, the Bluebirds will be averting their focus to squad-building processes in an effort to prepare adequately for fresh challenges in the Championship next term.
Recent reports have indicated that between four and six new signings could be in store throughout the summer transfer window, where owner Vincent Tan is poised to provide ample financial backing to Barry-Murphy as Cardiff look to re-establish themselves at second-tier level.
The situation of on-loan goalkeeper Nathan Trott will also be addressed, with his long-term future remaining very much in the balance with parent club FC Copenhagen following a standout campaign in League One.
Cardiff supporters are, of course, naturally eager to see the Bermudan shot-stopper remain in the Welsh capital, having kept 15 clean sheets from 40 third-tier appearances, although any ambitions of turning Trott's agreement into a permanent one have been handed a blow in a fresh emerging update.
It's widely-reported that Cardiff have a £1.5 million purchase option for Trott at their disposal, which has officially come into play now that promotion has been secured.

Just last week, however, it was reported by Football Insider that a permanent deal has been proving "difficult to complete" amid rising interest in the 27-year-old's signature from several unnamed Championship clubs.
Trott's teammates are also eager for a deal to be struck, with the likes of Isaak Davies and Yousef Salech recently urging the West Ham academy graduate to pen fresh terms with the Bluebirds, although a huge update has now been revealed on the situation.
As reported via X on Tuesday morning via Farzam Abolhosseini of Danish outlet Tipsbladet, Trott has rejected offers from Cardiff as they look to activate their purchase option following promotion.
It appears as though Trott is not intent on continuing his stay in south Wales, with the impressive goalkeeper now reportedly set to assess his options while remaining open to a return to Copenhagen.
Trott, whose contract with Copenhagen runs until the summer of 2028, made 30 appearances for the Danish giants across all competitions last season.
There's a chance he could return to manning the sticks for Copenhagen, although ever-intensifying interest from rival Championship clubs will also offer Trott plenty of food for thought as he assesses all available options on the table.
It's hardly the news that Cardiff supporters will have wanted to hear, with many still riding the crest of a wave after Saturday's euphoric promotion-sealing victory at Reading.
There's a palpable feel-good factor around the club, and that will remain intact regardless of whether Trott stays, although his apparent preference to play his football away from Wales will mark a real blow for the Bluebirds.

Trott is every bit a Championship goalkeeper in the making, with his sleek distribution, sharp shot-stopping and authoritative presence all representative of a player capable of taking that next step.
It's no surprise that he has earned admirers from the second-tier and Cardiff will, of course, wish that he was joining them there.
Now, however, if a resolution cannot be struck, Barry-Murphy will have to set his sights on an alternative unless he decides to promote January recruit Harry Tyrer.
