The National League is reportedly looking into claims that King's Lynn Town left a sprinkler on to ensure a fixture was called off.

The relegation-threatened National League North side were set to face South Shields on February 14th but the game was called off due to a waterlogged pitch.

Images sent from an anonymous email account to various media outlets claimed to be taken from the club's CCTV showing corner sprinklers turned on during bad weather.

The images are being treated with scepticism although the National League is said to be looking into the matter and if it turns out to have been done deliberately the club could face a fine and points deduction.

Neither King's Lynn nor South Shields have commented on the incident.
