Leeds United ended a 45-year league wait at Old Trafford with their first ever Premier League away win there, a huge boost in the fight to stay up on Monday night.

Noah Okafor struck twice before the break as Leeds seized control and could have been out of sight, with Ao Tanaka denied by a last-ditch Martinez intervention. According to Leeds Live, national verdicts cast the visitors as utterly dominant.

United were booed off at half-time and Carrick kept faith with his side, then Sesko’s looping effort was headed off the line by James Justin. Soon after, Martinez was shown a straight red card for pulling Calvert-Lewin’s hair following a midfield tussle.

Leeds sought a third, with Calvert-Lewin heading narrowly wide as the visitors monopolised possession and the away end chanted 'Ole'.

Casemiro then pulled one back for the 10 men to set up a frantic finale, but Leeds held firm to move six points clear of the drop zone on a damaging night for Tottenham in the bottom three.

Around 3,000 travelling fans stayed to sing long after full-time, underlining what this win, at this ground, after so long, meant for Daniel Farke and his players. Fresh from clinching an FA Cup semi-final berth last weekend, they still needed a goalline clearance and two big saves from Darlow to see it out.

Survival now looks a four-club scrap, with one likely to join Wolves and Burnley, who are surely heading for the Championship.
