The National Police said on Thursday they had detained three people linked to the Biris Norte ultras after a violent incident near the Nervión Plaza shopping centre before Sevilla’s league match with Valencia on 21 March.
The disturbance followed the unfurling of a large banner and the lighting of two flares by a group of ultras.
A private security guard working to protect nearby commercial premises was abused, then punched and kicked, leaving him defenceless until colleagues intervened to assist and contain the situation.
The victim sustained injuries that triggered an investigation. Detectives identified three suspected participants, who now face allegations of threats and causing injuries, and were later handed to the judicial authorities.
The force maintains a firm stance against this conduct, with zero tolerance for violence in sport, particularly from radical or ultra groups around stadiums. These actions form part of an ongoing operation to ensure sporting events in Seville and across the country proceed normally.
