England national team head coach Thomas Tuchel has provided his take on the inconsistent form of Barcelona star Marcus Rashford in the colours of his country.
Frontman Rashford was for his part afforded a starting berth on the international stage late this week.
As much came as England locked horns with Andorra in a World Cup qualifier.
When all was said and done, the Three Lions comfortable victors, by three goals to nil.
Rashford, however (as proved the case with a number of his teammates), endured something of a hit-and-miss outing from his berth on the left flank.
As much culminated in fresh criticism on the part of fans, many of whom have long grown frustrated with the unquestionably talented attacker’s inability to string a consistent run of performances together.
Speaking to the media post-match, the subject of Rashford’s woes was in turn put to manager Thomas Tuchel.
And the German tactician’s response proved an interesting one, as follows:
“He struggles a bit with numbers and with the ‘wow’ performance in an England shirt, I agree.
“But as long as he trains like he did and behaves and is active and alive in the group, then we will always trust him and push him and support him. I can see that he tries, this is for me the most important that he stays positive and he trains at the moment with the right attitude, with a smile and with a lot of quality.”
