Their fretting wasn’t triggered by Orlando Pride supporters’ concern during the international call-up of four players. They rest in confidence that the squad left on the pitch can continue driving toward greater heights in the NWSL.
Once again, defender Emily Sams leaves to join the United States National Women’s Team. The players will face Brazil in friendlies.
Last time, Sams was named to the January roster of the team. She earned recognition for joining the national team. But supporters took exception that more players didn’t make the squad.
Careful what you wish for, Pride supporters!
Iconic goalkeeper Anna Moorhouse takes off to join England for the UEFA Women’s Nations League competition.

Midfielder Angelina got the call from her Brazil team to face Emily Sams and the U.S.
Finally, defender Zara Chavoshi goes to training camp with the U.S. U-23 squad.
Each of the players earned their honors for what they’ve contributed to Pride wins.
Sams was the NWSL Defender of the Year last season. With the Olympic team, she was the first player to start in her debut. With Orlando, she played the most minutes of all rookies at 1,977. She led them with 18 blocks and 73 total clearances.
Among many professional accomplishments, Anna Moorhouse set an NWSL single-season record last year for shutouts. That was established after her 12th clean sheet of the season in Sept.
Midfielder Angelina played in 24 matches across all competitions in her first season with the Pride last year. She was acquired in the NWSL free agency in Dec. 2023.
In the 2024 NWSL Championship match, Angelina became the first international player in the league to record a final match assist. That went for the only score in the game, beating the Washington Spirit.
Finally, Zara Chavoshi checked off some boxes for scouts when she debuted near the end of a hard-fought match between the Pride and NJ/NY Gotham FC. Standing first in a back-five formation, she helped ensure that Gotham didn’t pull any tricks to ruin a 2-0 clean sheet.
So, Orlando Pride supporters get their wish for this international call-up. But let’s get the players back to work on more clean sheets as soon as possible.
