Stephen Eustáquio, an FC Porto midfielder, secured Canada’s place in the 2026 World Cup round of 32 by scoring the winning goal in a 1-0 victory over South Africa. The moment experienced by the Canada international did not go unnoticed by several figures in world sport, including the NBA MVP.

His compatriot Shai Gilgeous-Alexander commented on the post by the player on loan at Los Angeles FC with a goat emoji, in reference to GOAT, the English acronym for “Greatest of All Time”.
