Goalscoring has been one of the most easily notable feature of this FC Barcelona team since the arrival of Hansi Flick on the bench. The Catalans have put in some highly entertaining displays in games, filled with goals.
Last season, Barcelona scored a staggering 174 goals in 60 matches across all competitions, averaging 2.9 goals per game. This season, they have already reached 124 goals in 45 matches, averaging 2.75 goals per game. Combined, that makes 298 goals in Flick’s first 105 matches in charge.
To put these numbers into perspective, as Mundo Deportivo has noted, the best Barcelona team in history under Pep Guardiola, guided on the pitch by Lionel Messi from 2008 to 2012, scored 254 goals in its first 105 games.
Flick’s team has surpassed that total by 44 goals, and they have done so without Messi, who played alongside stars such as Samuel Eto’o, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Pedro Rodriguez, and Thierry Henry in those historic seasons.
Looking at individual competitions, last season Barcelona netted 102 goals in La Liga, 43 in the Champions League, 22 in the Copa del Rey, and 7 in the Spanish Super Cup. This season, they have scored 77 goals in La Liga, 30 in the Champions League, 9 in the Copa del Rey, and 8 in the Spanish Super Cup.
In Europe, Barcelona rank as the fourth-highest scoring team in the current Champions League with 30 goals, behind PSG with 34, Bayern Munich with 32, and Atletico Madrid with 31. It is worth noting that PSG and Atletico have played two more matches.
In domestic leagues, only Bayern surpass the Catalans, having scored 93 goals in 26 matchdays compared to Barcelona’s 77 in 28. Across all competitions, only Bayern have outscored Flick’s side with 139 goals in 42 matches.
The only caveat for Barcelona remains their defensive record in Europe, as they have not kept a clean sheet in any of their 10 Champions League matches this season. Including the last three from the previous campaign, that streak stretches to 13 games.
Flick’s era has not only been about sheer numbers but also about high-intensity football, attacking fluidity, and goal-scoring consistency that places his team among the elite in Europe.
