Neil el-Aynaoui has joined RB Leipzig from Roma on a season-long loan that includes an option to buy.

According to L'Équipe, the Morocco international, capped 22 times, moves to Germany after spells in Ligue 1 and Serie A.

A Nancy academy graduate who also played for Lens, el-Aynaoui made 25 appearances in his first season at Roma but was no longer in Gian Piero Gasperini’s plans.

He impressed at the World Cup with Morocco, starting all six matches and forming a double pivot with Ayyoub Bouaddi.

He will look to reboot his form in Leipzig and is set to feature in the Champions League for the second time, having first appeared with Lens in 2022-2023.
