Nelsinho, son of Nelson Rodrigues, dies at 79, Fluminense mourns

Nelson Rodrigues Filho, known as Nelsinho, died this Wednesday at the age of 79 in Rio de Janeiro. The son of the great writer and Fluminense supporter Nelson Rodrigues, he had been suffering from the aftereffects of a stroke (AVC) since 2024.

Nelsinho was a theater director, cultural producer, screenwriter, and an important figure in Rio’s street carnival. He was the creator of the traditional Bloco do Barbas, whose name was inspired by a prominent feature of his appearance.

Like his father, Nelsinho was a distinguished Fluminense supporter. The club mourned his passing on social media and wished strength to his family, friends, and fans.
