Beppe Bergomi believes Inter have found a new spark under Christian Chivu, praising the mentality, communication and energy driving the squad forward prior to Saturday’s clash against Napoli.

Speaking on Sky Sport after the Champions League victory over Union SG, the Nerazzurri legend argued that the coach has connected with the dressing room in a way that is now visible in performances and results.

For Bergomi, Chivu’s strength lies in clarity and personality.

“He is doing well. Something has changed in the communication from the first matchdays. Coaches today must send the right messages, even in front of the cameras. He gets into the players’ heads,” he said, via FCInterNews.

Bergomi highlighted how former youth players had already described Chivu’s ability to bring the best out of individuals.

He noted that his past as a champion gives him authority and credibility in the dressing room.

He also praised the tactical step forward, pointing to a higher line and more aggressive pressing.

The former captain also defended the continuity of the project, stressing that the core of last year’s squad has been retained with only selective changes.

“Inter didn’t throw anything away. They changed one starter. The rest is the same, just with more courage,” he said.

Bergomi also expressed appreciation for Pio Esposito’s mentality, calling him mature, resilient and fully backed by the club.

He dismissed the idea that Chivu alone “created” the opportunity, insisting Inter had believed in the striker long before.

“They refused huge offers for him. They understood they had a talent to protect,” he added.

With growing confidence, sharper communication and renewed intensity, Bergomi believes Inter are on a strong path – one that carries real weight in the Scudetto race.
