Netflix has announced it will release the mini-series “Le troisième sacre” on 29 May. The drama retraces the story of Brazil’s 1970 World Cup Seleção, led by Pelé.
Lucas Agricola portrays Pelé. A first trailer released in recent days shows the actor as a convincing double of the iconic No 10.
That 1970 side is often billed as international football’s first “Dream Team”, packed with flamboyant talents such as Rivelino, Jairzinho and Gerson.
The narrative goes behind the scenes of an iconic team, exploring the challenges, emotions and doubts around their preparation and World Cup campaign. It is set against a pivotal moment for Brazilian football and the country, during the darkest years of the military regime, when immense pressure weighed on the Seleção and their genius lit up the pitch.
The streamer is leaning into Brazilian football in this World Cup year, having also set three further projects for the coming months, including a Ronaldinho docu-series due on 16 April.
