Netherlands are set to host Lithuania in their concluding match of Group G for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
While Ronald Koeman’s men aim to put on a commanding performance to ensure momentum going into the finals, Lithuania will be eager to restore some pride following a challenging campaign.
The Dutch team enters this fixture after a hard-fought 1-1 draw away to Poland, where Jakub Kaminski struck just before halftime and Memphis Depay promptly responded early in the second period.
The Netherlands’ position at the summit of Group G is secured by a healthy three-point advantage and an outstanding +19 goal difference, meaning only a single point from this contest is needed to guarantee their ticket to the World Cup.
Team selection for Koeman has been complicated by several absences. Denzel Dumfries ruled himself out after sustaining an injury during training before the Poland clash. Illness has sidelined Quilindschy Hartman, while injury has forced Ajax’s Wout Weghorst out of contention. Jan Paul van Hecke is also unavailable due to suspension.
In addition, Justin Kluivert will not feature, having suffered an injury in the Poland match. Kluivert has returned to Bournemouth to recover, leaving the Dutch a man short ahead of their clash with Lithuania.
Despite selection difficulties, Koeman can still count on the majority of his regular squad, with Memphis Depay leading the line. Having notched his 55th international goal versus Poland, Depay brings valuable experience and finishing power to a side looking for a positive ending, even in a match that lacks competitive stakes.
Possible Netherlands starting XI: Verbruggen; Timber, De Ligt, Van Dijk, Van de Ven; Gravenberch, De Jong; Simons, Reijnders, Gakpo; Depay.
The match will kick off at 7:45pm BST on Monday, 17th November.
Coverage in the UK will be available exclusively via Prime Video, ensuring fans can follow every moment of the action.
