PNE's summer business looks to be relying on the club's sale to the Saudi-American businessman
Preston North End’s prospective takeover by Amr Zedan has been somewhat slow to progress in recent months.
The Lilywhites have undergone a prolonged period of stagnation under the Hemmings Family, who have kept the club afloat but appear reluctant to press on with any sort of ambitious plans.
Their 2025/26 season finish of 14th was the latest to not buck a trend at Deepdale and after some fan unrest punctuated several home games across the campaign, there may now be renewed hope among supporters after a fresh update emerged regarding the club’s proposed sale.

According to Alan Nixon, there has been movement behind the scenes regarding Zedan’s proposed purchase of PNE.
In an update on his Patreon page, Nixon reported that while the Saudi-American businessman has not yet finalised a deal, his legal representatives remain in talks with the hierarchy as they work towards reaching an agreement.
The report adds that those involved hope to soon be in a position where the takeover can proceed to the next stage of regulatory scrutiny, with the Independent Football Regulator now overseeing suitability checks for prospective owners.
Zedan is also expected to retain current manager Paul Heckingbottom should a deal eventually be completed.
Nixon further claimed that Preston’s summer transfer business remains heavily linked to developments surrounding the proposed takeover.
The Lancashire club reportedly have until the end of June to complete a £4.5 million permanent move for Tottenham Hotspur youngster Alfie Devine, with the agreed framework for a deal only valid until the expiration of his loan spell at Deepdale.
Preston remain hopeful of concluding that transfer before the deadline passes, after which rival clubs would be free to enter the race for the England youth international, with Wolves and Celtic both said to be circling after his eight-goal Championship haul.
Beyond that, Nixon states that North End are currently expected to operate within their existing financial limits, focusing primarily on free transfers and loan signings unless fresh investment arrives through the Zedan deal - should that be completed.

Few clubs better embody the Championship’s modern balancing act than Preston North End.
Under the Hemmings family, the club have largely avoided the financial chaos that has engulfed others across the EFL.
Since returning to the second tier in 2015, Preston have remained competitive without parachute payments, billionaire overspending or reckless gambles in the transfer market.
Yet stability can eventually begin to resemble stagnation.
Preston have not finished in the play-off places since their return to the Championship and, despite occasional flirtations with the top six, too many seasons have drifted towards anonymous mid-table finishes.
A promising first half of the 2025/26 campaign again faded into another underwhelming conclusion, leaving many PNE supporters feeling disconnected from a club that appears trapped in neutral.
That growing frustration explains why reports of a takeover have generated such anticipation around Deepdale.
There is relatively little public information regarding Zedan’s long-term plans, although his presence at Preston’s draw with Queens Park Rangers in April heightened speculation that negotiations are advancing.
The caution is also understandable. Across the Football League, takeovers have delivered wildly contrasting outcomes.
Birmingham City and Wrexham have become examples of accelerated growth under ambitious ownership, while the turmoil at Sheffield Wednesday, Morecambe and Reading serve as a warning of how quickly instability can develop under unsuitable stewardship.
For Preston supporters desperate to see the club move forward, the uncertainty surrounding a takeover may feel preferable to the predictability of standing still.
