FC Red Bull Salzburg and Maurits Kjaergaard have agreed on a contract extension – with the 21-year-old Dane extending his deal to 30 June 2028.
Maurits Kjaergaard has played for five years in Salzburg and has progressed through all the age groups (Red Bull Academy – FC Liefering – UEFA Youth League – FC Red Bull Salzburg). He has also made 19 appearances for Denmark U19 as well as receiving a debut call-up to his national team, albeit Mau had to pull out of the squad due to injury.
After 99 appearances for us (with 14 goals and 24 assists), he is on the brink of a century and has worked hard since suffering an ankle injury in November on making his comeback.
Maurits is a real key player and his absence in the autumn really hurt us. We can see how hard he is working on his comeback, and we are confident that he will return before too long. Extending his contract is a clear statement for both parties, and we are really pleased to be doing it.

After a really good start to the season, two really lengthy injuries have set me back. That makes it even better that my contract in Salzburg has been extended, as it speaks to the faith in me and gives me additional motivation and strength for my recovery. I hope to be back on the pitch very season and to be able to help FC Red Bull Salzburg to a positive end to the season.
