New Corinthians defender says he's fit and praises squad quality

Corinthians officially presented, at the beginning of the afternoon this Monday (12), the defender Gabriel Paulista, who will wear the number 20 shirt. In a press conference, the new defender of Alvinegro Paulista spoke about his physical condition and stated that he is ready to take the field.

“In recent years I have had physical problems, which is normal, all athletes do, but I have managed to recover and return to my physical form. In the last games, I had no problems. The Brazilian calendar is a bit tougher. I have been preparing myself psychologically, and physically as well.” he began.

“I had already been training with Besiktas, we were in the middle of the season. It won't be a problem. I am ready, if Dorival needs me in the next game, I will already be physically ready. I will try my best.” Gabriel Paulista continued.

The new number 20 for Timão also stated that he had been following the club even while outside Brazil. The defender said he arrives to fight for his place and praised the squad that Alvinegro has at its disposal.

“I have been following Corinthians even from abroad and despite the time zone difficulties. I watched many games, especially the decisive ones. I came here. I didn’t come to be an undisputed starter, I came to earn my place.” said the player.

“I started with the group. I am here to show the coach that I am well physically and technically to have an opportunity. This is good for the coach. To have players of this level. He can have a headache over this. Whoever he puts in will get the job done, always thinking of Corinthians. I came to fight for my place.” he concluded.

Gabriel Paulista is not the only name on Alvinegro's radar in the market. Corinthians is close to signing midfielder Matheus Pereira from Fortaleza, as well as Uruguayan right-back Pedro Milans, who is a free agent after leaving Peñarol, Uruguay.
