Three clubs had been linked to Jesurun Rak-Sakyi of Crystal Palace, but now the winger, who shone at The Valley in 2022-23, is returning to Turkey.

Crystal Palace winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi had been of interest to three Championship clubs, but the winger has now left England for a second spell in Turkey.

The English transfer window closed at 11pm on the 1st September, but there was one window of opportunity that remained open to English clubs who wanted to do a little more business after this date.

Turkish clubs have been busy throughout the summer, and their transfer window didn't close until the 4th September, and Premier League Crystal Palace have taken advantage by moving the promising young winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi to the Super Lig club Kasımpaşa SK on their deadline day.

The loan agreement is for the whole of the 2026-27 season, and this may come as something of a disappointment to three Championship clubs.

Charlton Athletic, Burnley and Wrexham had all been linked with Rak-Sakyi over the summer, and while none of them were able to get a deal over the line by the 1st September, they may have been hoping to pick him up in January. But these hopes have been dashed by confirmation from his club that the player has gone to Kasımpaşa for the whole season.

A post on the social media platform X at the very end of the Turkish transfer window from the official Crystal Palace account has confirmed that Jesurun Rak-Sakyi is going to Turkey on a season-long loan.

This isn't the first time that the young winger has gone to Turkey. In September 2025 he signed for Çaykur Rizespor and stayed there until the January window, at which point he returned to England and signed a deal to go to Stoke City for the second half of the season.

Rak-Sakyi's time at The Bet365 Stadium was reasonably successful. He made 15 appearances for Stoke over the second half of 2026-27, but failed to make much of an impact, scoring three league goals for them.

Jesurun Rak-Sakyi has failed to meet the heights of his 2022-23 Charlton season

Born in London to Ghanaian parents, Jesurun Rak-Sakyi was capped by England at under-20 and under-21 levels before transferring his international allegiance to Ghana, and the young winger had already played Premier League football for Crystal Palace by the time he left Selhurst Park for Charlton in August 2022 on a season-long loan.

Rak-Sakyi shone at The Valley that season. He scored 15 goals and contributed eight assists that season, winning the Supporters Player of the Year award with a whopping 46% of the vote.

Since then, however, Rak-Sakyi has failed to hit those heights again. After spending 2023-24 back at Selhurst Park, making six appearances for Crystal Palace in the Premier League, he went to Sheffield United on loan for 2024-25, making 34 League appearances for the Blades as they narrowly missed out on promotion back to the top-flight after losing the play-off final to Sunderland.

Last season saw him go to Turkey and then the Potteries. There had been interest in him from several Championship clubs over the course of the summer despite his slight tail-off since 2022-23, and it does remain the case that he could be recalled by Palace at the end of the year and sent out to a Championship club.

Charlton, whose fans developed a real bond with him during that 2022-23 season, had been considered the favourites to get him during the summer, and would surely want to take him again. But for now, Jesurun Rak-Sakyi will be trying his luck against in Turkey and any interested clubs will have to wait until January 2027 at the absolute earliest.
