Nathaniel Brown’s transfer to FC Bayern has long been finalized. Now, new details are emerging about how the negotiations with Eintracht Frankfurt actually unfolded—and what compromises both clubs had to make.
Nathaniel Brown is one of FC Bayern’s most spectacular new signings this summer. For the German national team player, the Munich club is paying Eintracht Frankfurt a guaranteed transfer fee of 50 million euros. With bonus payments, the total amount could rise to as much as 55 million euros.
As reported by Sport BILD, the negotiations between the two clubs were significantly more intense than previously known.
According to the report, Bayern’s sporting director, Max Eberl, personally contacted Frankfurt’s sporting director, Markus Krösche, after the season ended. Prior to that, Bayern had already reached an agreement with Brown on the personal terms of his contract.
The Hessian club initially demanded a transfer fee of 60 million euros. In response, FC Bayern submitted its first official offer just one day later: a fixed transfer fee of 45 million euros plus 10 million euros in bonus payments. This officially kicked off the transfer negotiations.

In the ensuing talks, both sides moved closer together until an agreement was finally reached on a guaranteed transfer fee of 50 million euros. After that, the only remaining issue was the exact structure of the bonus payments.
According to Sport BILD, both clubs agreed on a two-tiered model. Under this model, 2.5 million euros will be paid out upon the achievement of relatively easy-to-meet targets. The remaining 2.5 million euros, however, are tied to significantly more challenging on-field successes.
The agreement brought an end to weeks of negotiations over the 23-year-old. Brown signed a contract with FC Bayern through 2031 and is expected to play a key role at left back under Vincent Kompany.
