FC Bayern are on high alert in the case of Alphonso Davies. After the problems surrounding the Canadian’s serious knee injury last year, the Munich club do not want to take any more risks this time

As reported by SPORT1, the German record champions will not allow Davies and the Canadian FA to decide on a possible World Cup participation on their own

Accordingly, Bayern have already formulated clear conditions internally

Bayern wants full medical control

The most important point: Alphonso Davies is to be treated exclusively by FC Bayern’s doctors and ultimately declared fit to play. Only if the Munich doctors give the green light could participation in the World Cup even become an issue

Interestingly, according to SPORT1, Davies is said to be fully aware of the situation and has accepted the club’s stance

The main reason for the hard line is the fierce dispute between Bayern and the Canadian association last year, when Davies suffered a torn cruciate ligament and cartilage damage during the international trip

Bayern were particularly annoyed afterwards that the severity of the injury had apparently been misjudged at first. The final diagnosis was only made in Munich

Club boss Jan-Christian Dreesen had even publicly threatened to take legal action against the association at the time

New muscle injury causes concern

Now the next complicated situation is looming. Davies suffered another muscle injury in his left hamstring in the Champions League semi-final against Paris Saint-Germain. According to several media reports, it is a torn muscle bundle. The regular downtime would actually be around six weeks – so the timing is extremely critical in view of the start of the World Cup

In Canada, however, they are apparently hoping for a quicker return for the 25-year-old, which is causing renewed concern at Säbener Straße

Internally, therefore, it seems clear that FC Bayern will remain in control this time, as they want to prevent Davies from being strained too early or his rehabilitation being jeopardized by travel and tournament stress

Especially after the numerous setbacks of recent months, the club’s long-term health of the left-back is clearly a priority

After all, Davies is also currently going through an extremely difficult phase mentally – and that is precisely why Bayern are clearly not willing to make any compromises this time around.
