Earlier this week, we reported that the New England Revolution's decision to extend the contract of Matt Turner, the goalkeeper who represented the USMNT at the 2026 World Cup.
Now, the Revs have announced the contract extension of one of their promising prospects.
A player who has already featured for the first team this season and helped the club secure fourth place in the Eastern Conference before the World Cup break.
When you think about it, the Revs have made a wonderful deal. They are retaining a homegrown talent who has consistently held his own against seasoned opponents and made an immediate impact in MLS competition.
So it was a matter of time before the institution connected the dots and offered him a well-deserved extension, also to prevent any team from signing him.
“The New England Revolution re-sign Homegrown defender Peyton Miller to a multi-year contract extension through the 2028-29 MLS season with an additional club option for 2029-30. Miller, a United States youth international currently in his third MLS campaign, has twice been selected to the MLS 22 Under 22 class as one of the league's top young players.”
This season, Miller played 12 games, recording three goals and zero assists. He is a young, versatile player who can play as a left-back or a left winger, giving him enough ability to win his 1v1s against the other team's players.
As a homegrown player and a prospect who has already proven his value on the field, the move made by the New England Revolution is the right one in this case.
Imagine he struggles during the second part of the season.
His age allows him to continue developing in the U-22 category until he regains the confidence he showed at the start of the season.
