The New England Revolution have completed the signing of Colombian winger Dylan Borrero from Brazilian side Atletico Mineiro, the club announced Friday.

The 20-year-old is the Revs' first-ever signing using Major League Soccer's U-22 Initiative and arrives on a three-year deal with an extra year on option, pending receipt of his P-1 visa and International Transfer Certificate.

“Dylan Borrero is a young attacking player we have followed closely over the past year,” Revolution sporting director and head coach Bruce Arena said in a club press release. “His technical ability and pace are assets which will complement our attack. We are excited to welcome him to the New England Revolution.”

Borrero arrives in New England with 50 professional appearances under his belt for Atletico Mineiro and homeland club Santa Fe combined, scoring three goals and assisting another five. At international level, he's capped seven times for Colombia across various youth levels.

A right-footed winger, Borreo is able to play on either flank, driving to the end line to deliver crosses on the right and cutting inside to get shots on goal from the left. His versitility will add valuable depth to the Revs' forward line, aside from Borrero offering an exciting prospect from the future.

The Revs - who won the Supporters' Shield in 2021 - have endured a tough start to the 2022 MLS campaign but will look to build on a 2-1 win over Charlotte FC when they travel to DC United this weekend.
