New face in and injured star back as Leeds United start pre-season, World Cup quartet absent | OneFootball

Leeds United reported back for pre-season testing today, with new signing Harry Wilson involved after joining on a free from Fulham, and Ilia Gruev back from injury.

According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the majority of the squad checked in seven weeks after the final match of the 2025-26 season at West Ham, beginning testing at Leeds Beckett University.

Also pictured were captain Ethan Ampadu, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Anton Stach, Joe Rodon, Jayden Bogle, Jaka Bijol, James Justin, Sean Longstaff, Dan James, Willy Gnonto, Sebastiaan Bornauw, Lucas Perri and Alex Cairns.

Gruev’s season was curtailed by a meniscus knee injury. He shared a recovery update late last month and had been expected to return for pre-season.

Four players were absent as expected, the World Cup quartet of Brenden Aaronson, Gabriel Gudmundsson, Noah Okafor and Ao Tanaka. They are due to return later.
